How Quick Mold Change Boosts Block Plant Efficiency

On the block molding production line, the mold change process has always been a bottleneck affecting continuous operation. Traditional methods rely on overhead cranes for lifting and manual alignment; once a set of molds is replaced, the production line often has to stop for more than half a day, which not only affects output but also imposes a heavy workload on the workers.

To address this practical challenge, S.L Machinery has developed a quick mold-changing device. Its design concept is not complex: by utilizing the conveying mechanism on the sheet feeder in conjunction with guide rails, the mold enters and exits the forming machine via a horizontal sliding method, eliminating the need for hoisting and repeated adjustments. According to feedback from workshop operators, the entire changeover process can be compressed from several hours to just a few minutes, significantly reducing production line downtime and making the operation much smoother.
Behind the rapid switching capability lies S.L Machinery's accumulation of over 30 years in the mold manufacturing field. From strict material selection of mold steel to CAD/CAM digital design, and then to high-precision machining and heat treatment processes, every mold undergoes multiple quality inspection procedures. More importantly, the molds and the SLST series servo brick production line are developed synchronously, providing better assurance in assembly precision and smooth demolding compared to externally matched solutions, thereby reducing molding defects and equipment wear caused by compatibility issues.
As the mold changeover time decreases, the effective operating time of the production line increases.
